Multilingual Templates FAQ
Using PIA & DPIA Automation, you can build and manage multiple language versions all within a single template. When that template is sent as an assessment, the assessment references the respondent's language preferences and allows the respondent to view and respond to an assessment in any language configured within the template.

Who can build and manage multilingual templates?
The feature will be available to users with the ability to add, manage, and delete templates. No new permissions are required; the Template Translations permission is pre-seeded for all manger roles and the Site Admin role.
Only available for Enterprise and Trial license types.
Which languages are supported and importable?
All 31 languages that the OneTrust platform currently supports are configurable.
Will existing gallery templates come preconfigured with all translations in one template by default?
No. You can configure gallery template translations manually or work with account management to provide translation via request.
Does OneTrust provide translations for Gallery Templates in any default default languages?
Yes: French, German, Italian, Japanese, Spanish, and Portuguese (Brazil).
Are there any limitations for how large the template translation files can be?
Other than the size limit of 64 megabytes of the import file, there are no other limitations to the number of questions or items within the template.
Will users be able to input translations for inventory items and attributes via the import spreadsheet?
Only static items that the user adds to the template itself are translatable. Attributes can be translated using the Attribute Manager. Translating attributes via multilingual templates is not available.
Will translations be visible and launch-able from other portals (Employee Portal, Self-Service Portal) that display assessments?
In the Self-Service Portal, anywhere an assessment can be launched, translations will be available. The Employee Portal does not currently support multilingual templates.
Is there a way to get the language from the browser rather than OneTrust user settings?
No, the OT tool cannot open or launch assessments in a given language based on a user’s browser settings.
Can users exit the import loading modal and do other work while an import language file is processing?
Yes, the import process allows users to navigate to other modules and continue other work on the OneTrust platform.

Attributes can be translated using the Attribute Manager. Translating attributes via multilingual templates is not available.
Will I be able to import multiple languages per import spreadsheet?
No, you will only be able to import one language per file, but can upload multiple language files at once.
If users add an attachment to a question or create a comment, will those modals also be translated?
Since they are not part of the translations, users will continue to see OneTrust application content translated based on the language selected in Global Settings.
Will users be able to build and manage a template's translations on the UI rather than using Excel importing?
Currently, users will only be able to import and export translations using an Excel spreadsheet. However, it adding input and output of translations via the user interface is up for future consideration.
Will multilingual templates be available on previously published templates?
Yes, you can configure multiple translations for a published template. But translations are tied to template version, so the translations will be applicable only for that version. When a new version is created, translations for old versions are still available, but will not include any new questions added to the template.
Can the translations be configured only through an Excel upload?
Yes, this currently the only way to configure multilingual templates.
Can I download an import file from one tenant and upload it to another?
No, you will need to generate an import file for each tenant to avoid errors.
